Close call

Tonight on the road ride I had an awesome close call with the bike.  I was following a dude to the front of the line in order to get ready for a sprint.  I looked out of the corner of my eye and seen the shadow of someone jumping early and then I made the decision to go with him.  I stand up to try and go with him and all of a sudden the chain decided to jump off of the big ring.  I don’t know how I saved it but I did manage to stay on the bike.  If I would have went down I would have taken about 8 riders with me.  After the ride I paid a visit to the shop and purchased a new chain to be installed tomorrow on the bike.

On another note I heard about the demise of the USPS.  I heard that they are on target to be $14 billion in the hole at the end of the year, they are only allowed to borrow $9 billion and they are almost at that limit.  So now Congress is going to, maybe, raise the cap on the amount of money the USPS can borrow.  On WPR today, a caller, said that the government primarily use FEDEX for delivery of packages.  My thought would be if the government agency, USPS, is in dire straights wouldn’t you abandon FEDEX and use USPS to deliver your packages.  Give the money to a government agency that actually needs it.  Without the USPS, I think, we will have trouble with mail delivery.  I don’t think that FEDEX and UPS can do it as cheaply as the USPS.
